Front cover analysis

Looking at the front cover its colour scheme seems to be white red and gold which has connotations of strength power determination purity faith joy and intellect, which correlates with the genre of magazine as the readers really understand and can get the idea as most musicians have a strong passion for their music and this style of genre.

The masthead The history of Rock is in two different sections, the history of which is the first part of the mast head is in a dull white which gives it the feel of it being old but also pure, which could be interpreted the real truth about the history of Rock. The second section of mast head rock is quite large and takes up a portion of the front cover. Along with that its in bright red which can also be seen as a relation to stage lights. the typography is rather broad and stands out the most rather than anything else on the mast head as it is very visible and eye catching and everything else is quite dull and smaller.

The main Image on the front cover who is partly covering the word rock who is dressed in all white can be seen to be the embodiment of Rock, as he is dressed in white it could be considered that he is pure rock and nothing else.

Subheadings along the top right hand of the page underneath the letter K of Rock feature information on a monthly trip through music's golden years in this magazines issue 1969 allows readers to acknowledge what they are about to read and all of the contents inside of it which could be considered as vintage information. On the bottom half where it informs readers on the people who are starring in this magazine - where it says starring featuring the rolling stones and so on this tells us  about musicians and also groups who may be considered as legends and also the greatest. I have to come to this conclusion as the names of most of the people in this section are in gold and white which have connotations of treasure and pricelessness and also purity.

Audience analysis The history of rock

In my magazine i couldn't seem to find any advertisers in it, however i will be having further looks in detail to make sure that i haven't missed anything about any type of advertisement.

Price of the magazine £9.99

Magazine Content

Talks and messages from bands and groups and reasons why the groups may have ended, also interviews about their upcoming tracks ( in their time  not now) and what they had to say about their upcoming single or track. Also had information about DvD or tapes on the songs such as one of the dvd's featuring David bowie on the contents page.

Segmentation in the Market.

Geographic - as the target market tends to be consumers that reside in the city state or country. Most of the magazines individual bands and stars are mostly British so it would make sense for this magazine to be a Geographic one as it can mirror the audiences expectations and also the general consensus.
Psychographic - The target market would also be psychographic as they may have similar attitudes values and also life styles as most people that enjoy rock music (not all ) may attune themselves to this type of life style along with  the type of clothing that they wore in that period of time.
Beneficial - The readers that are targeted in this magazine can benefit of off reading this magazine because it as to their bank of knowledge that they currently have on this genre and also informs them of where this all started. They also can benefit from knowing someone of the top tracks in the 1960's and try and listen and search them up to get a brief understanding of what music was like during that time.
Behaviouristic - Tend to have their own style where they may dress like the music they listen to but can tend to stick their style despite the change in style in popular culture no matter that they will remain to how they dress but it can become a trend in the way that they dress.

Analysis > The history of rock (1969)

Range of age

The History of rock magazine has a vast range of diverse content packed inside of it. Looking at the front cover i can tell that this magazine is not presented just to the older generation who have not necessarily been around from the 1960's but for individuals who actually like rock music and would want to know where it all stemmed from. However i would say that the range of age for this magazine would be from the ages of 17 going on as i wouldn't necessarily put a limit on the age range of people who may like this magazine. Even looking at the masthead of the magazine you can tell it has that sort of 90's feel to it by the way it has been presented.

Along with the age range of individuals who may want to buy this magazine when i was examining the front cove of this magazine i noticed at the bottom left hand corner of the front cover names of 'rock stars'  that were being featured in this magazine. Most of these names i didn't know but even by looking at them i could tell that these names most likely could mean a big deal to those who actually remember them and like their music but also at the same time catch the eyes of the younger generation who are interested in rock music and allow them to discover the groups of people who started the whole genre themselves.

Also at the bottom where it says 'Plus!' there are additional names that wasn't mentioned in the staring section but i believe they may be newer rock groups or bands that have started out or may even be before the 1960's, I'm unsure as i have gotten to that section of the magazine yet but soon i will and will be able to give enough information about what the plus is about.

Gender
When i first looked at the magazine i initially thought this is going to be a stereotypical male dominated genre as i didn't believe their would be female rockstars, however to my surprise looking into this magazine i found that there are multiple women and also bands that are dominated by women and are loved by fans of the genre, such as 'The Bangles' and their song Walk Like an Egyptian. That aside this magazine was not set out just for men this magazine is for both men and women. On the inside of the magazine their are pages featuring clothing of the era and how also women and men who like this genre would dress, mostly ripped shirts baggy trousers and t shirts uncombed hair and so on.
Additional information
Looking at the contents page it shows a wide range of information that allocates each individual section of the magazine to an artist for example on page 12 it will feature Bob Dylan and on page 22 it features the Kinks.
Along with that it also features information about the individuals success and also the record hits they have made and also news on how they are doing currently.
Looking at the information that i have gathered up form actually reading this magazine to an extent i have summed up a brief idea of what the lifestyle choices and aspirations of the audience this magazine would be. From what i presume they obviously like the music so they may be interested in the clothing and the fashion ideas that they had in the 1960's and may still dress that way to an extent. Also if their may have been any recent releases on refurbished cd tapes of old songs that they enjoyed when they were released they would most likely buy it or go to a concert if for example a band got back together that got separated.
Price - Earnings of audience
The price of the magazine normally that i would of had to pay for it was £9.99.  This price isn't that expensive but to my surprise i was shocked at how cheap it was. The reason as to why i was shocked at the price is that the amount of content that has been put into this magazine isn't reflected in the price as i presumed i may have to be a high price. Seeing this i believe that people who are fans of this style and genre of magazine can go and buy this weekly or monthly depending on their salary as it isn't that expense                                                                                                but if they have been inspired by the rock magazine they may have become musicians so i'd say monthly.

The history of rock

Today I went to Whsmith in harrow in the store St ants and bought this magazine called the history of Rock. This magazines price was 9.99 but with some of the whsmith vouchers i had from previous purchases at the store i knocked the price down to 6.99 so it wasn't that expensive.

The history of rock is the first music magazine that i have ever bought and also will be the first magazine that i will be researching and analysing for my preliminary task. This is a rock magazine and I'm not too much of a fan of rock music but to have a wider range of knowledge i have to dive into all sections of music to get a true understanding of the genre and how the genre of music can affect how the initial design of the magazine.
This is the front cover/page of this magazine i have taken the photo as you can see proof of my hand being there.

Increasing the amount of content that i put out

From today for me to try my uttermost best and better myself and really go for a high grade i have realised that i will need to be looking into and buying more magazines allowing me to evaluate them. having Photos of magazines online is useful however it is much more better to have a copy at hand that i can really compare it with other magazines that i have and see the differences and try and understand why those changes were made and apply that knowledge to when i create my own magazine for my preliminary task.

Marking my working using a mark scheme

Marking my own work

In the lesson that I had before I was tasked with marking another students work that they had produced over an amount of time, now I will be using that same criteria to mark my own work.

Saturday 17 December 2016

Action plan

Looking forward from this point I have a well informed standing of how I want to pursue my main task. as I now know the common mistakes that I made and make throughout the work that I do and also how it can affect my individual grades.
The mistakes that I make now are good in a sense that I know that this isn't the main task so I can make mistakes now as long as I learn from them and try to perfect my weaker areas.

An idea for the future would be for me to get better images to have for my magazine. The reason why I say this is that looking at my front cover page for my magazine page that I made it is clearly visible how blurry and pixelated the image is of the individual. By me getting better images for the main task it will allow me to try and get across the ideas that I had while taking the shot and also connecting with the individuals who are looking at it.

In the post that I will be uploading tomorrow I have shown that I have the ability to mark my own work fairly and that I was able to locate the weaknesses that I may not have seen at the time but after taking a step back and really looking at what work I have produced I can see that I could have done much better with certain key features of it.

For my main task I am thinking of using different formats of technology to help people get by my work rather than being bored with reading pages and pages of writing. A good example of this would be for me to use power point or even Prezi or even voice recordings. Furthermore I think having a recording of me actually producing work would be a greater achievement/feat to pull off during my work.

In what way does your media product challenge real media products

Before I started doing this task I wanted to have a brief idea of what other magazine pages and covers looked like so that I could know what I wanted to base my own one off of. Now Seeing other media products they all generally have the same basic design when it comes to the contents page and front cover. Now when saying this I don't initially mean that they are all identical but I mean that they have the same design concept. An example of this is on  the left with the contents page. They generally have a chunk of information on one side or going straight down the page telling us where and what pages certain information are on which is the main idea of a contents page, However then they have the general idea of sticking pictures round the edge of the page to fill up the gaps but also keep the readers and the audience entertained enough to continue reading. This general idea of contents page is generic in some sense and as you can see with my own contents page I based my own off of this same idea.

The same idea generally goes for my front cover page as they generally have the main image going down the middle of the page as seen present below. Then they have all the other information on the sides of the main image which will then briefly cover them over or overlap. Also they have the mast head behind the main image along with other typography near the face of the main image. Seeing this design concept I went along and did pretty much the same but it could have been a lot better in my opinion however at the time I was still getting to grasps with switching from InDesign to Photoshop but even on Photoshop my magic wand laso-tool skills aren't up to the standard that they need to be.

As you see below this is my idea that I had created for Redbrooks high which could have been a bit better as when I look at the main image it is visible where the editing has been done as their are pixelated areas of the image. However I went along with general idea of most front cover magazine pages have which is the Main image down the middle however the image that I have taken isn't generally down the middle as the main image bends into the photo rather than standing up right and the mast head isn't behind the image either, however most some of the words are overlapping the main images body.

Looking at my work now and comparing it with my peers I have learnt a few new techniques of how I can improve my work for the future and how I can make adjustments to most of the individual concepts that I use to make it look professional compared to the ones present because it is easy to tell that it was made by student when comparing it to professional magazine pages even though I'm not necessarily going to be on that level of editing yet.

Who would the main audience be for my Media product

Saturday 10 December 2016

How did I attract my audience

Attracting my audience was probably one of the most difficult things that I had to for this task as I even though I thought I was doing the right things to get attention and attract an audience is was very difficult to obtain at the start. As my target audience are teenagers which most of them are generally older than me but some are the same age I looked at my self as an individual and tried to understand what kind of things would attract me to read something. so first I tried to using catch slogans or use colourful editing. Doing this I was only able to obtain 3 potential viewers which abstained from perusing my magazine after 3 days. After doing this I realized that I needed to change my initial approach so instead the whole class used a survey to have individuals answer them and get them to try and really get into the idea that I was going to be creating a magazine. This was much useful as I learned that most of my generation don't really want to go out of the way to pursue anything unless it is important or unless it interests them. Also most of the teenagers that I know generally use social media to stay in contact with someone or people so keeping my attractions and blogs online allows them to stay in contact as its a better approach of me waiting for them to come to me and instead let me go to them.

What have I learnt about technology from constructing my product and also frmo further research

At the start of this course I was given the task of creating a magazine front cover and contents page, initially I wanted to use a Photoshop to create my magazine product, the reason I wanted to use photo shop at the start as I was more accustomed to using it from using for my GCSE course, however we all used to InDesign to create the magazine. I using InDesign I learnt how to use contour lines and also how to change different letters in a word to different colours while keeping the rest in black for example. However the skill that I still haven't mastered yet is the one that I struggled with while I was making my Gary Barlow front page which was getting the Text behind an individuals head. Also I also want to learn how to mask using InDesign as I know it very useful. During the lesson I watched Youtube videos which taught me how to use InDesign much faster as there was multiple tutorials on it.
During the actual preliminary task I will be using InDesign as I found it much more easier to use rather than that of Photoshop which sounds strange but once you really understand the basics of InDesign it is much easier and in some sense a it more reliable than Photoshop in some areas.

When I actually start doing my preliminary task I will be using other media formats rather than the just common style of using Microsoft Word and just typing away, I would like to use other media formats to show that I have knowledge of other media formats and to show off some of my own individual skills and that I know how to use editing software without going overboard for example.

Evaluation Task

Through out this section I will hence forward be analyzing the contents page and the front page that I have created as a preliminary task in lesson. As I do so I will be analyzing my work using technological platforms and aspects such as using a recording system to enable people to see that it is actually me creating and performing the work that I have published on my blog. Also I will also be using slide shows and possibly a voice over on the slide shows to talk people through the initial process that I have gone through to be able to continue the work that I  am currently doing at this time.

Sunday 4 December 2016

On indesign I was tasked the objective of creating a brief draft of my initial front page along with my contents page. These screen shots above are from the work that i've  completed as the preliminary task. This was no easy task as i had to do multiple things to achieve even the smallest feats using this application such as finding ways of changing the colour of different sections of the text of my mast head as you see on the front page where I edited out rooks to make it initially red. For me i believe the hardest part was using photo shop and trying to neatly delete sections off of my front page image without making it looking too pixelated but at the same time easy to see. One of the easiest pieces for me was actually starting off with aquiring information from other magazines to try and get a brief idea of what I wanted to have for my magazine. The fun part was getting people to pose for me to allow me to take the pictures that I needed for my front cover page and also the picture of me where I had to pose on my contents page. All together I thought this task had an intermediate range of difficulty and fun mixed in with it which I found enjoyable enough for me to continue working at it to even come after my college day and do my best to catch up and finish of pieces that I hadn't done.

These are the photo's that I have taken to impliment into my preliminary task using my phone.

Front cover photo plan

During the lesson I was I given the task of taking a picture not from the internet but one that I have specifically taken with a camera or my phone. This picture cannot be copyrighted it has o be 100% a photo that I have taken without a doubt. I was told to take the picture as a Medium Close up. From research I have done it is from the head down to waist of an individual. The photo that I will be taking would be ideal to do inside of school premises as people have a sort of college attire on however not everyone dresses 'smart' so I may have to take the photo at home or outside of school.

Refreshing my knowledge on the shot differences

During todays lesson I was given the task of using my phone take a mid shot  of an individual to be on the front cover of my magazine. However I wasn't sure at the time what a mid shot included e.g. elbows waist or arms and so forth. So because of this I went online and I researched some information about what a mid shot was. On Google images I found this image on what a mid shot looked like and according to this its just a tiny bit below the waist showing arms and elbows and above the head. Seeing this for my magazine front cover I will most likely have to have my individuals waist be at the end of the magazine page e.g. where it ends. Now that I know what kind of photo I'm going to have to take I can now plan  out efficiently what kind of picture I'm going to take along with the general ideas of what I'm going have them pose and so forth. Doing research on what kind of shots that I want is very useful because if I didn't know at the time I would have made a general mistake and most likely have the initial photo that included their knees into the photo.

Everything so far

I feel that the initial designs that I thought up along with the many different names have been quite a difficult task even though they sound so simple to complete. The reason that I found these tasks so difficult is that I tried my best to have a high school name that stood out from the rest. By that I mean I didn't want a name that sounded familiar or a name that sounded like an everyday high school I wanted a name that would essentially mean something to those that go there. The reason behind this is that I wanted to inspire the people that attended the high school even though there is no one actually going because the school isn't actually real but that's the general idea that I had at the time of creating this so called High school.

The colour design also meant a lot because I wanted the colour design to not only be statement but to have some meaning behind it. Which is why I have decided to continue with the initial design that I have chosen on a recent post with the words Red in the colour red along with the word High in red also. The reasoning behind this is that the I wanted the colour and the word Red to stand out from everything else and the way that I pictured it on the magazine front cover would be a great methodical way of doing so. Due to this I think the general ideas that I have had so far are quite good but I do believe with a bit more work I can improve the initial designs that I have had on my work so far.

Doing some research I have looked at other student magazines online to see what kind of typography that they have along with the general colour scheme that they have. Most of them will either have the first letter in a certain colour for example green while everything else is in black and maybe italics. The reasoning behind this could be due to the fact that most of the schools could be trying to reinforce the idea of the school trying to empower their students.

Ideas for a school blazer/jacket

During the weekend a friend came over to my house with a couple of comic books, in the comic books what I noticed was that the main characters that went to Gotham City College all had a school Jersey which is the one I have placed at the top of the page. I found that the school colours that have been used in this comic book for the college can be really iconic and essentially a symbol that can stand out. I found this inspirational and also gave me more ideas on what I could have for my main task as I would have someone be on the front cover of my magazine. Due to this the sort of ideas that I had was to have them wear certain types of clothing such as a possible red and black jacket as the name of the college is Redbrooks high which could also convey the colour connotations of Red and black and also show a college ethic towards the magazine which would be better rather than having a random individual in random clothing which has nothing to do with the magazine.

Sunday 13 November 2016

When I finally decided my initial colour design I thought that it would be better if I decided to have a colour scheme that in a sense represented the schools name and theme. I thought that with the name Red that should be partly coloured in red or at least have some sort of redness in side of it. In the end I have gone with the very last one at the bottom where the word Red is in the colour red and the word High is the  colour red. I believe having the word High in the colour red allows it to stand out and also allows people to acknowledge it from a far off. By doing this I am also gaining the eyes of others as they look at the name of the highschool that I have created.

Developing the name for the magazine

In todays lesson we have been tasked with choosing the font that we want to use for our initial magazine. Doing so we have been told to use Photoshop. At first I initially wanted to use Microsoft Powerpoint as I thought that it would have a better range of fonts. However as I used Photoshop I found there was a much vaster range of font types to use with it.

With coming with 3 names for my initial magazine I had rather big brainstorm of ideas that I wanted to use while coming up with it. The first name Red brooks was pretty much similar to the name of the college that I go to right now called Rooks heath. The reasoning behind it was that the school badge for the middle school below the sixth form students has a picture of a small bird on top of a twig with the school logo attached with it. Initially I thought having  the name to do something with a robin so I tried many similar ideas until I came up with the name Red brooks.

The name Willow speare was along the same lines as Red brooks as I was going along with theme of nature and animals such as robins. During my daily life I walk past a forest/park to get to school and there are a lot of willow trees so that came back to my remembrance so the name Willow was the first part of the name. Further on in the day someone started playing Britney speares so I just combined the two names to get Willowspeare High.

The last name Pillock High was a name that I had in the back of my mind before I started doing the task when we was first told that we was initially going to create a magazine. So I just put the name down as one the three names that we was tasked with. This name is also easy to remember and quite generic rather than other fancy names that I generally thought of at the start of the exercise, however at the end I did come up with these 3 names that I thought was most suitable out of the 10 that I originally had.

House style - school magazine task

The font of text that I will be using for my preliminary task is called  leelawadee The reason as to why I will be using the font type leelawadee  is that to me I believe that it stands out from the rest and is more appropriate than other fonts.  Also with some research I found that some font types cause strain on the eyes and because of this I wanted to pick a font type that would strain the eyes for the teens but also was very readable and clear.

As for my magazine the colour scheme that I have in mind to use for it will be Red and black. The reason for this is that the connotations of the two colours complement each other very well especially for teenagers. The colour Red has connotations of Anger and Passion which is very relevant as teenagers tend to be quite passionate about things that they truly like and enjoy. The colour Black has connotations of power. Most teenage boys have dreams and aspirations of becoming powerful and able to fend for themselves.  Because of the connotations of the colour black  and red I do believe that the colour scheme will work together along with it being eye catchy and also coherent to the task at hand.

The Mode of address that I will be carrying out for the magazine will be informal. The reason for this is that I don't want the teenagers to be threatened by the way I approach them through words or feel as if what they are reading is bore but to have a relaxed atmosphere and feel that they are talking to someone  they can relate with. Also by having an informal approach I wont be intimidating them by talking formally and  using large words that they might not understand but at the same time I will try not to use to much of their 'slang' to the point where reading is painful because of the cringe. By doing this I may also gain a positive feedback from the students.

Drawing out the Front cover and Contents page of my initial magazine

During todays lesson I was tasked with the objective of making a rough sketch of the locations of the key concepts of a magazine for example the Mast Head.

We was told that our magazine would be the same length and width as an A4 piece of paper, now this became a slight problem as the magazines we have present with us aren't A4 structured. They had the same length as an A4 piece of paper how the width was much wider and vaster than that of the A4. So as i began to sit down and to compare the differences between the magazine and the A4 paper I began to take down key measurements from the magazine and try my best to transfer that onto the A4 piece of paper.
For example the length of space between the top end of the paper to the Mast head which was 3.4cm and the gap from the start of the Mast head proceeding on to the left end of the page which was much shorter than the top end.Once that was done I began to see and take down  the measurements of the  initial concepts that was present on the magazine front cover. Such as the difficulty that I had faced while using indesign which was getting the photo of the main lead over the mast head. Along with this I  began to allocate certain boxes along the magazine according to the photo present on the top left hand side which would be filled in with information that would be present on the inside of the magazine along with special features.
As you can see on the left here this is the finished product of the Mast head draft design that i was tasked with creating. It was difficult taking down certain measurements and putting it onto paper as the difference between actual physical magazines along with magazines that are just still images on the internet is that the magazines on the internet dont tell you very much about the actual magazine. For example how wide the magazine is or how long it is. So what I did to counter this problem was to enlarge the image on the screen until it was the same size as the A4 piece of paper and place the paper on the screen and trace through the paper the magazine that im looking at. By doing this I could foresee the intial lengths and widths of the concepts that are on the front cover of magazine pages that are on the internet.
Once this was done we had to move onto creating a contents page. I found that the contents page was much easier to draw out in draft than the front cover because even tho there is more detail in a contents page the front cover requires key skills with Ict to pull off such as getting images ontop of each other or having to types of typography contrasting with each other in the same centence. In conclusion I was able to finish the front cover but only needed one or two more blocks on the contents page that I created. This appeared to be a very easy task but in reality had alot more hidden depth to it that I didnt know was there at first before analysing the magazines terminology.

Typography

By experimenting with different fonts with words I can truly see the different affects that it can have with certain words as they typography just like colours have a secret meaning that not all people can understand without studying it.

Education is not preparation for life; education is life  itself.  John Dewey

Education is not preparation for life;

education is life  itself.  John Dewey

Education is not preparation for life; education is life  itself.  John Dewey

by using the different fonts I have tried my bet to try and analyse and create different ways that this quote can convey different meanings. For example by having the words in Bold it could essentially be the word being a loud statement having it stand out for the rest as this is something very important that everyone should know about. By having the word in small fonts and small sizes it could be something silent that most people could skim by and wont acknowledge it .

By doing this I am beginning to train my self to understand different ways that artists can illustrate a different meaning through different fonts and the ways that they have wrote things to try and connect with readers even in books and novels.

In the course of a week I have only been able to get 3 answers on my survey about the magazine that I am initially trying to create. From now I will try and analyse the information that is present and also try and understand the reason why I may have received such small responses.

The first question of how old are you ? I noticed that from the 3 people that have answered the survey that I most of them are ages 15. Knowing this I can analyze what my potential audience will be like for my initial magazine when I have made it and what type of audience I will have to cater for.

On the next question I realized that the majority of people that answered my question are male, however I did have one female. This may show that  I may need to have more information catering for males than females with the information present but that doesn't mean I shouldn't have any information in my magazine for the opposite sex.

With the information present I can see that I have mixed answer as to be expected as most people wont share the same interests. With this information I can see that I will need to have pages that include the hobbies of the people that have answered this question to keep them interested and also to attract other people to my magazine.

With the information present on this question I can see that most of the teens have their parents as motivations for life. So through this I could get a page dedicated to a small speech from a famous older person who is a parent or a famous grandfather to someone in a certain subject to be an inspiration to the youth.

By seeing who some bodies role model is I can layout my magazine in a way that can correlate with the answers that they have given. By seeing who someones role model is I can essentially see what kind of career path or academic structure they are trying to base their lives around and by doing this I can allocate certain pages in my blog to what they have answered with.

By seeing who someones motivation in life is, I can see what kind of career path or what life style they are striving towards and also I can have brief understanding of why these people my be their motivations in life due to the facts of they childhood for the example of their parents or grandparents being the motivations in their life.

Typography in magazines is seen not to be a huge deal but has a massive impact on how someone perceives and reads something by the way the design of certain words are written out. The majority of the answers that I received said that they prefer typography that stands out from other words which could potentially mean that they subconsciously like to stand out from the crowd or make a statement about something which is very useful for the way I could plan out my Mast head on my magazine.

With the question what do you like about high school I presumed that some or most teenagers despised high school but I got a mixed response. Some said that they enjoyed high school because of the teachers and subjects and someone said other but that could be to represent nothing. This lets me know that in my magazine even tho it is aimed at the youth I shouldn't be reluctant to provide pages about school and some academic features or topics that could benefit the youth in the their future such as a guide line to certain jobs.

With the question about contrasting colours I made mistake by not saying no just FYI. some people said they like contrasting colours such as yellow and black and red and blue. I believe that the colours have connotations that could essentially be aimed at the youth of today and the way that they view themselves. Such as the colour blue which has connotations of freedom which could essentially mean that teenagers want to be free and not have anything holding them back in life.

With this question what do you not like about magazines I also got a mixed response of what people didn't like about magazines. According the information present I shouldn't focus on cramming so much writing and information into a page but use small paragraphs which also could have images to correspond with them to allow people to not be bored just reading but can also have a picture to reflect and relate to.

And finally the question what designs do you like I left as an open question to allow people to really give me their real thoughts about what designs they feel really resonate with them. one person said they like words that stand out empower people to feel strong because they are reading the certain magazine I believe this could also relate to the typography. By seeing this I can also adjust my design of what my magazine will finally look like.

During lessons we have begun to use indesign which is quite similar to photoshop however quite a bit different. Before we started using indesign we was told to find a magazine front cover that we would like to recreate and try to make them ourselves using indesign. Through this I stumbled across the magazine front cover of attitude featuring Gary barlow from 2012 attitude awards. The reason I chose this front cover over others was due to the fact that it was simple and didnt have that much information on it to add as I have just only begun to use indesign.
However looking at the content of the magazines front cover that I have chosen there is a lot more detail and information going on that meets the eye that i noticed while using indesign. Most things that would appear common and easy seemed to be the more difficult things for me to grasp on indesign. For example one of the most difficult things that I have encountered and that I am still dealing with is trying to get the mast head 'attitude' behind Gary Barlows head without the entire word disappearing.
After picking the front cover magazine that we wanted to recreate we had to watch a video which would train us in a small amount of time in a step by step process of some of the key concepts of indesign that we would need to try and recreate the magazine. The link to the video is here -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9vGs9PqSq&safe=active

When i started the first thing that i did was use construction lines on the blank A4 piece of paper that we start off with on indesign. I made sure that the construction lines on the A4 piece of paper correlated with the original attitude magazine front cover featuring Gary Barlow. As you can see i made sure that the middle section gave enough room for his body and tried my best to line it up within the centre of the page. One misteake that i made was that i made Gary Barlow smaller than he should of been. Gary barlow should be much bigger in the magazine front cover that i have tried to recreate along with the word attitude reaching each end of the magazine page. Further more Gary Barlows name should be bigger along with most of the other wordings in the magazine front cover. However this is not the finished version but where I am currently at.

After watching the different videos that was present of the youtube channel featuring indesign I tried my best to get Gary Barlow behind the text that i had on the front cover but at the same time trying to have attitude behind his head. At the moment I am still struggling with this and i should be able to do this soon. To put something behind a different object or layer it was difficult as before in Gcse we used Photoshop and it was all about layers however on indesign we had to use Ctrl with shift and [ to put something behind something else, and to use this ] to do vice versa.

I tried to use word and publisher to crop the original photo of attitude featuring Gary Barlow to obtain important key objects that aren't present in my recreation of it such as, the bar code at the bottom left hadn corner the text on the right hand side and also the small orange sticker that is above the barcode on the left hand side. however i was unable to do this so i am currently looking for an alternative to this and hopefully find a way around this.

As of now this is as far as i have got using indesign and recreating my chosen attitude magazine front cover of Gary barlow hopefully in the future i will be able to upload the finished product.

This is the task that was set during one of my lessons that allowed me to plan and understand what kind of questions I was going to use during the actual questionnaire that I was going to send out.
By doing this I gave myself an initial idea of what kind of questions I was going to ask by doing this I would preserve time during the real questionnaire by not having questions that repeat the same questions.

This was another piece that was set during the class. This allowed me to make a plan and mind map what kind of audiences I would be exposed to by planning who I thought would initially be interested in my upcoming magazine. By doing this I can sort out what kind of content I want to be in magazine and through that I can try and see what kind of content people ( teenagers ) would be interested in by looking at other schools magazines and comparing and contrasting the differences between them

Young kids from ages of 7 going onto the ages of 14 and 15 with disposable income from parents e.g. pocket money. Also helps with the production of this cartoon show as the kids will go out and buy the magazine if they notice that there may be freebies in the magazine that will help them understand the plot and scenarios of each individual episode.

The Design - The magazine in itself is quite sufficient in the way that it is advertised towards children will lots of light and bright colours such as yellow and occasional blue. However as for content it is quite limited from an older individuals perspective as they know what to expect from reading novels or any other magazine however for a child this would seem like a lot.

Mast head doesn't scream you -  The mast head doesnt scream out at you as much as the catchphrase at the bottom saying Ben needs you which is also quite useful as it wont disway the audience from the more important factors of the magazine. The mast head blends in the with the background however can sometimes stand out if focused on
